Power of OSINT with Maltego_WhatsMyName Transforms

In the vast expanse of the digital world, the ability to extract and analyze information is crucial. Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools are becoming increasingly important for researchers, investigators, and cybersecurity professionals. One such tool that has been gaining attention is the Maltego_WhatsMyName Transforms.

What is Maltego_WhatsMyName?

Maltego_WhatsMyName is a set of transforms for the Maltego software, based on the remarkable tool WhatsMyName.app created by Micah “WebBreacher” Hoffman. This tool allows you to enumerate usernames across more than 500 websites, providing a powerful resource for OSINT investigations.

The Maltego_WhatsMyName Transforms currently include five different transforms that allow you to extract various types of information from an Alias Entity, such as the username portion of an email, the category of the OnlineGroup Entities, the URL associated with identified profiles, and the website associated with each platform.

How to Install Maltego_WhatsMyName

The installation process for Maltego_WhatsMyName is straightforward. After cloning the repository from GitHub, you need to install the required libraries by running pip install -r requirements.txt.

A Maltego configuration file, WhatsMyName.mtz, can be automatically generated to easily import the Transforms and Transform Set into your client. You can then import this file into your client, and your new Transforms will be arranged into a submenu called “WhatsMyName”, making them easier to find and use.

Operational Security (OPSEC)

While using Maltego_WhatsMyName, it’s important to remember that the requests generated to each website will be local requests. To protect your privacy and security, it’s highly recommended to use a VPN.
